"Abbiamo un problema" perché "abbiamo un cazzo troppo grosso anche per un T.Rex" pareva brutto, ma di certo avrebbe reso meglio l'idea. Ok, è sopravvissuto alla scampata tragedia dell'Apollo 13, ma a che è servito? Tanto alla fine è morto lo stesso! Stiamo parlando di James Arthur Lovell Jr., l'uomo che viene ricordato come il pronunciatore della famosa cit. "Houston, abbiamo un problema" (in realtà, fu il suo compare Swigert a dirlo per primo, ma vabbè). Sicuramente avrete visto il film omonimo, per cui non starò qui raccontarvi l'accaduto. Fra le cose realmente interessanti che ha fatto, segnaliamo la sua partecipazione a quel gran bel film che è L'uomo che cadde sulla Terra (un cameo nella parte di sé stesso); un altro cameo lo fece pure nel summenzionato Apollo 13, dov'era il capitano della nave che raccoglieva gli astronauti dopo che questi avevano fatto splash nell'oceano. Come ricorderete, nel film il suo ruolo fu affidato a Tom Hanks, anche se lui aveva suggerito Kevin Costner, che a suo avviso gli assomigliava; bah, secondo me assomigliava più a Mel Brooks, peccato non abbiano scelto lui!We learned a lot about the Moon, but what we really learned was about the Earth. The fact that just from the distance of the Moon you can put your thumb up and you can hide the Earth behind your thumb. Everything that you've ever known, your loved ones, your business, the problems of the Earth itself-all behind your thumb. And how insignificant we really all are, but then how fortunate we are to have this body and to be able to enjoy loving here amongst the beauty of the Earth itself.
